The National Institutes of Health has funded a $3.6 million project to allow a team of experts to explore the intersection of environmental exposures, genetics, inflammation, and other factors to better determine what makes someone more likely to develop Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Jerseys, baseball bats and other items that belonged to Pete Frates, the former college baseball player whose inspiring fight with Lou Gehrig’s disease helped popularize the ALS ice bucket challenge, are being auctioned.
