Exploring Watermedia Painting at White Bear Center for the Arts
Join teaching artist Sylvia Roman at White Bear Center for the Arts to explore painting with a variety of nontoxic watermedia materials. We’ll look at a number of painting techniques and see how artists have used them. Then you will have plenty of time to experiment making your own masterpiece.
We spoke with Kara Nett Hinkley, national vice president of state policy at The ALS Association and member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' Consumer Advisory Board, to discuss some of the important work being done to break down barriers to accessing health care.
Accessing insurance coverage for durable medical equipment is critical for people with ALS. However, too many private insurers either refuse to cover or set up insurmountable barriers for patients who desperately need access to the equipment they need to survive. Learn from people living with ALS and their families around the country who are facing these difficult challenges every day.

Learn the basics of photography including focus, exposure control, and how to improve your composition. This workshop is for any person living with ALS regardless of photographic experience and physical abilities, all you need is a mobile device with a camera built in.
Join The ALS Association for a FREE one-hour private tour of a few rotating exhibits at the Walker Art Center, followed by a social gathering in the sculpture garden.
This event is for those living with ALS and a plus one (friend/family member/caregiver) to attend. The Walker Arts Center welcomes visitors of all abilities to engage with the visual, performing, and media arts of our time. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spots ASAP.

For people living with ALS and their families, working with health insurance providers at all stages of the disease is a necessity to obtain the critical care and services they need. The ALS Association, local ALS care teams, and ALS multidisciplinary clinics can all be helpful in getting access to the care and equipment needed for people with ALS to live their lives as they choose.
