Richard LaShomb served in the Air Force from 1969 to 1973, and the Reserves from 1973 to 1975. He was stationed in Japan and the Phillipines. After he was discharged he began working for the DOD. He was 5 hours away from a 6 month civilian deployment to Afghanistan when he started showing symptoms. He was sent home on medical standdown and his diagnosis was confirmed in October 2010. He retired from DOD in April 2011 with 36 years of service. He is the father of 3 children, Lisandra, Jason and Jon. His positive attitude is what keeps us going and I am proud to be his wife.
