My mom served proudly as a Wave in the Navy during Viet Nam. She was a military brat of a military brat. She LOVED her service and would have been career except she got injured. Leaving her beloved Navy broke her heart. Last summer (2011) she was diagnosed with ALS. She was so brave. She lost her speech by Thanksgiving, she taught herself and her 3 grandkids sign language. In Jan 2012 she got a feeding tube. With it she got a minor infection that shut down her lungs and liver. My beautiful mom died at 12:46 pm on Feb. 9, 2012. We buried her on Valentines day. She was just 63.
